It might be too fortunate or too unfortunate for me to get a Fujitsu U1010, one of the most sleek-design UMPC models in the world, as a New Year Gift from my father.

It is the second smallest computer I have ever seen, with Sony VAIO UX-58 on the top of the list. With rough surface and heat-preventing cloth on its bottom, it is quite handy to hold the gadget in one's palms, and the mouse buttons and the pointer are placed on the upper edge of the lower part of the U1010, where it is easily accesible to the thumbs. By the way, it is rather comfortable to use U1010's pointer, at least more comfortable than the standard touch pad that can be seen on a great many of laptop brands.

Its 5.6" touch-screen comes with a resolution of 1024*600, and there is a button to adjust from landscape mode to portrait mode right next to the screen. The LED-back-lighted screen is also of magnificant color and striking brightness (compared with its tiny size), not to mention the decent viewable angles, both horizonal and vertical. However, it is unable to display an entire page of an A4-sized pdf document in portait mode, as there are only 600 horizonal pixels available.

U1010 is equipped with the 800-Mhz A110 CPU, codenamed "Silverthrone", but it does not contains the new "Little River" chipset, which contains an X3000 onboard GPU. Rather, its chipset is still the i945. Besides, the bottleneck of the overall system performance does not come from the chipset, the 1.8" HDD or its 1GB RAM, but the energy-economical CPU.

My U1010 is pre-installed with a copy of Windows Vista Home Premium. Vista has many advanced features for a touch-screen computer (not necessarily tablet-PCs), but I still prefer a lightweight OS like XP or Ubuntu, due to the limited computing capabality of the A110. I have not run any test-programs on it, but I can tell you that it could not even play back DIVX video files with higher bitrate smoothly (still better than the AIGO mp4 of my father's anyway). Of course a 720p HD video is enough to kill it:-); however, U1010 is absolutely capable of surfing the web, checking e-mails, browsing Encarta and Britannica, and even playing games (legacy games mostly).

Being one of the most experienced tablet-pc sponsors in the world, Fujitsu has added many elements that used to be considered as "tablet-pc only" to U1010, including multi-operational-modes, a keyboard that is nearly the size of ordinarly laptops and many shortcut buttons around the screen. That is to say, U1010's screen is better protected than all its major counterparts, like OQO, Vaio UX-58CN, Samsung Q1U, etc.

U1010 is very hot, too, not only its size and chic design, but also the bottom temperature. It is acceptable in winter, but I doubt if it will survive a summer day in Beijing without air-conditioning.

The standard battery is of 2,600 MAh,and its life is no more than 2 hours after per charge, thus it is strongly recommanded to get an extra 5,200 one, or you'd better take your AC adapter with you all the time. Thanks to god, that adapter is quite small.

It is still not the right time to purchase an UMPC or other small X86-compatible handheld devices like the EEE PC, as there should be better batteries, lighter OS, and more advanced wireless conectivity to enhance their performance. But if you decide to spend a great deal on them now, you are making investment on the promise of such devices in the future, and I greatly appreciate that.

今天Zen Vision M他喵的死机了N次（N>8），我承认是我偷懒拷贝进去了很多没设置ID3信息的歌曲，但是Zen自己附带的软件在编辑ID3信息上只能用弱智来形容，让人没有编辑的激情……而且现在Vista一枪托砸翻了一堆PlayForSure与Windows Mobile设备，害得我现在要处理老爷子的手机的时候还得请出XP来，微软大水冲了龙王庙啊。

重返工作岗位后赶紧存钱买iPod Classic，iTunes的确是所有播放机管理软件中最好用的，没有之一。

用惯了Vista下的video codecs package for Vista后，觉得就算换了Mac也无所谓（买了XPS420后才发现体积上双方的差距还真是大，假如要搬家就得后悔死）……反正都没有终极解码用，习惯就好。等等看会不会有45NM+3690显卡的iMac罢，这样性能就也不是放弃iMac的理由了（没有verycd版Emule大概算一个）。

PS，我也开始怀念零底噪白开水的iPod音质了（仅限硬盘版）

今天顺便跑了下3D mark 06,不开反锯齿的情况下，得分是10242，凑合吧～
